    Customer Service Manager
36 Years at Pridgeon & Clay

Why did you come to Pridgeon & Clay?

I had come here for a college internship in the front office at Pridgeon & Clay.

    What do you do now?

I manage customer service - all orders that come in from customers electronically, or by fax, email or phone, and process the orders. We work with schedulers and logistics to make sure parts ship on time.

What is interesting about your job?

It is something new every day. Customers sometimes have different ideas about orders - it comes down to problem solving.

What makes Pridgeon & Clay a great place to work?

They have treated me well - good benefits, good pay. When I started, there were 100 employees here, now there are more than 800 in the U.S. I feel like I've worked for several different companies. It's been fun to watch the growth and be a part of that constant change.

    Team Leader - Assembly
6 Years at Pridgeon & Clay

Why did you come to Pridgeon & Clay?

I had been looking for a new job when the recruiter contacted me. I knew the company because a friend's parents worked at P&C and liked it, and we had a number of people leave (my previous employer) to work here.

    What do you do now?

As a team leader, I have worked all over the company. I'm focused on managing production and making sure that my people have what they need to do their job.

What is interesting about your job?

I've been doing a lot of work with lean ahead of the company's continuous improvement activities. I'm proud where we are ahead of the changes we're seeing.

What makes Pridgeon & Clay a great place to work?

The company has treated me well. The educational reimbursement is a great benefit - I've taken advantage of it. The health insurance is second to none, it's a testament to a stable company. They give opportunities for employees to work their way up in the organization while working, that's not necessarily true at other places.

Why did you come to Pridgeon & Clay?

What is interesting about your job?

It is something different every day, and that's the way I like it.

The people are friendly. I've never been at a place where the owner is on site, it's a pleasant work environment. The pay and insurance are good. Over all, it is a good place to work.

Global Build Manager - Machine Build
17 Years at Pridgeon & Clay

Why did you come to Pridgeon & Clay?

My high school offered a school to work program during my junior year. My sister was a press operator here and my dad was a tool & die maker.

    What do you do now?

As head of the global build team, I analyze and design solutions for new product builds and improve our processes. I handle the tool room and global issues, sharing our best practices for the corporation.

What is interesting about your job?

There are continuous opportunities to improve myself and others. Every day there is something to look forward to, a challenge out there that allows me to improve myself and the organization.

What makes Pridgeon & Clay a great place to work?

There is an open-door, open communication policy here. If you see something and want to improve something, there are not a lot of chains of command that you have to work through. If you have an idea, you can own it and make it happen here.

Project Engineer - Research & Development
4 Years at Pridgeon & Clay

Why did you come to Pridgeon & Clay?

I was looking for an internship as part of my requirements for school.

    What do you do now?

I work in the Mechatronics group, designing new weld cells and supporting low volume production. I oversee new cell builds and develop new weld processes.

What is interesting about your job?

It changes almost every day. It is nice to be able to develop welds one day and design a cell the next. Being able to work with the new technology here at Pridgeon & Clay is nice.

What makes Pridgeon & Clay a great place to work?

Management here has given me a lot of freedom to do what I think is right as we develop new processes here. I've been given a lot of responsibility with development welds, and been allowed to determine the scope of my work.

Team Leader - Research & Development
6 Years at Pridgeon & Clay

Why did you come to Pridgeon & Clay?

A recruiter found me. I was plant manager at a smaller assembly shop, we had 112 employees. The company was restructuring when our main customer decided to take assembly work in-house. I was looking for other opportunities when the recruiter contacted me.

    What do you do now?

I'm the team leader for low volume production and laser welding.

What is interesting about your job?

Everything we touch here is new product being launched. I handle quoting, fixture development, development of position descriptions, development of technicians, and training the team.

What makes Pridgeon & Clay a great place to work?

The pay is good and the benefits are great. I paid more for my benefits when I was 18 working in a union shop than I do now for a family of six.
